Checks before requesting or retrying MNP

  • Do not run MNP One-Stop and the reservation-number method at the same time. Choose the method used by the destination application.
  • Check whether a reservation number is still being issued, already issued, expired, or waiting for reissue eligibility.
  • A SIM/eSIM reissue in progress can conflict with MNP processing. Confirm its status first.
  • A plan change or contract-type conversion can temporarily block MNP. Confirm that the change has completed.
  • Do not submit a normal cancellation before MNP completes; cancellation and number portability are different procedures.
  • Verify account-holder name and identity-verification status before retrying.
  • Check for billing or payment restrictions that may block account procedures.
  • Data-only or special-purpose lines may not be MNP-eligible until converted to an eligible voice service, depending on the provider.

Recommended troubleshooting order

  1. Open the account page and confirm the exact line, contract type and account holder.
  2. Check whether another operation is pending: SIM/eSIM reissue, plan change, billing repair, identity verification or cancellation.
  3. Choose either MNP One-Stop or the reservation-number method based on the destination carrier's application flow.
  4. If using a reservation number, confirm issuance status, expiration date and whether a previous number is still active.
  5. Complete the destination-carrier application before performing a normal cancellation at the old provider.

When settings cannot fix the problem

If the line itself is not MNP-eligible, is a data-only/special contract, or requires a contract-type conversion, changing a phone setting will not solve the issue. Complete the provider-side procedure first.
