Why the order matters

Apple states that supported carriers can transfer eSIM from the old iPhone and that the old SIM is deactivated after the plan activates on the new iPhone.

Google Pixel can move SIM/eSIM during or after setup on supported devices/carriers; otherwise a carrier activation/reissue route is required.

LINE documents QR-based transfer when the old phone is available and states that cross-OS transfer restores the most recent 14 days of chat history.

  1. Backup and account recovery
  2. Data transfer
  3. SIM/eSIM migration and voice/SMS/data testing
  4. Actual sign-in for passkeys, 2FA, LINE and critical apps
  5. Device-bound Wallet/payment services
  6. Erase/sell/trade in the old device
